Hello, I am Ivan Mikolji, river explorer and audiovisual artist.
I am extremely proud to be part of the book
BIODIVERSITY OF THE BOJONAWI NATURAL RESERVE.
My contribution to this wonderful book was to photograph the various species of flora and fauna found in the reserve. Show how they live underwater, in savannas and on granite outcrops.
We documented species that have never been photographed or filmed in their natural habitat.
As in all expeditions led by Carlos Lasso, he was accompanied by a highly qualified group of people, all working together for the conservation of the environment.
I have a motto that says: You cannot preserve something that you do not know exists.
and these expeditions of the Humboldt Institute, the books, and all the educational materials that they produce align perfectly with my life mission.
I remember waking up very early in the morning to document the sunrise over the Orinoco River and I imagined how Alexander von Humboldt had passed through that same river, through that same place, in the year 1800.
I thought that now, 220 years later, we were in the same place, with the same vision, showing the world what we have to conserve.
