Dwarf red dot cichlid. Part of my tribute to the Amazon at ExpoAcuario Queretaro next weekend.
The red dot dwarf cichlid (Apistogramma alacrina) lives from the Orteguaza River Amazon Basin to the upper Guaviare River of the Orinoco basin in Colombia.
I have photographed them at Caño Cristales in La Macarena, Colombia.
There, among the red Macarenia clavigera plants, each male has a group of females which he will visit periodically. The water is crystal clear with an acidic pH of (4.6 – 6.1) and with a very low amount of dissolved minerals
